THANK YOU MR. SECRETARY GENERAL

Ban’s visit may not have achieved any visible outcome, but the people of Burma will remember what he promised: "I have come to show the unequivocal shared commitment of the United Nations to the people of Myanmar. I am here today to say: Myanmar – you are not alone."

QUOTES BY UN SECRETARY GENERAL

Without participation of Aung San Suu Kyi, without her being able to campaign freely, and without her NLD party [being able] to establish party offices all throughout the provinces, this [2010] election may not be regarded as credible and legitimate.

Letter to Mr. Gambari

To: H.E. Mr. Ibrahim A. Gambari

Special Adviser to the Secretary-General Mr. Ban Ki-moon

United Nations Organization

New York, U.S.A

From: United Nationalities Alliance (UNA)

Rangoon, Burma.

Date; January 31, 2009.

Subject: Submission of Suggestions

Your Excellency,

We, United Nationalities Alliance (UNA) have the honour to present this letter of suggestions to help you work out for future political processes which comply with the mandates of the United Nations Organization and real desires of people of Burma/Myanmar and international community.

As Your Excellency has known and experienced the political situations in Burma/Myanmar, the junta is doing its own way one-sidedly to maintain the State Power against the will of the people of country and international community. So we pray Your Excellency could handle the matters according to the mandates of the UN bodies such as the Presidential Statements of the UNSC on (11-10-2007), successive resolutions of the UN General Assemblies since 1994 and messages of the Secretary-General to the junta.

We, United Nationalities Alliance (UNA), strongly believe that every political dispute should be discussed and solved by negotiating on table by political ways and means. So we would like to suggest Your Excellency to make more appropriate pressures upon the junta that:

(a) all political prisoners be released immediately and unconditionally

(b) negotiations between the junta, democratic forces led by Daw Aung San Su Kyi and leaders of the ethnic nationalities be made.

We thank Your Excellency very much indeed and wish for Your Excellency’s well-being and success.

With best regards,

United Nationalities Alliance (UNA)
