Burma has signed an agreement with Thai and Singaporean companies to provide the two energy-hungry nations with electricity from a hydro-power project.
The state media says the project in the south will generate 600 megawatts of electricity, but gave no further details of the deal.
Burma is under sanctions by the United States and Europe because of its human rights record.
But the impact of the sanctions has been weakened as neighbours China, India and Thailand spend billions of dollars for a share of Burma's energy resources to solve energy problems at home.
