MANILA, Philippines - On behalf of the people of Burma, I would like to express our sincerest thanks for the continuing political support given by the Filipino people to our struggle for democracy.
I would like to thank the Philippine government, especially the House of Representatives and the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, for once again expressing strong support for our fight for democracy and peace in Burma.
To our colleagues in the Initiatives for International Dialogue (IID), Free Burma Coalition-Philippines (FBC-Phils) and the Philippine media, thank you very much.
Someone once said, “The warmest memories are the earliest ones.” The Philippine trip was an “earliest one” for me. I had a great time because of the warm welcome given to me by this country and its people. I will never forget the Philippines, and my memories of this country will serve as lessons that I and my colleagues in the democracy movement for Burma can use to further strengthen our cause.
If some day Burma will become a free and democratic country, I won’t forget that the Philippines made a big difference. Again, I would like to thank the Filipinos for giving me an opportunity to inform them about the situation of our people in Burma.
